Happy Holidays

Image
As the Christmas holidays are upon us, there has been a sense of joy and anticipation in the air. This time of year is not just about the festivities, decorations, and delicious treats; it's also a moment for reflection. Looking back on the first term of the school year, I can't help but be amazed at how much the children have grown, both academically and socially.  Reflecting on the past term, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to witness the children blossom.  At the start of the year, many of them were still getting used to their new environment, navigating friendships, and adapting to new routines. Fast forward a few months, and the transformation is quite something.  Naturally, there are still ups and downs but that is just part of the course! I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended our beach picnic party day! It was a wonderful opportunity to step outside the classroom, relax, and enjoy each other’s company in beautiful Repulse Bay....

Exciting Christmas Activities in Class

Image
Dear parents and caregivers, As we approach Christmas, I want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for your continued support. Over the past two weeks, the children have been enthusiastically discussing the festival, sharing key vocabularies such as Christmas tree, presents, and Santa. It has been delightful to see their excitement as they share their prior knowledge and experiences. Through the story, "我喜欢圣诞节" (I Love Christmas!), the children have further reinforced their understanding of these important terms.  They have also enjoyed making Christmas trees with doilies, adding a festive touch to our classroom. Additionally, we have learned a simple version of “Jingle Bells,” which you can find on the K1 Chinese learning slide. The children have been joyfully dancing and singing along, making our sessions even more enjoyable. Our Essential Agreements

We strive to create a joyful and safe space for the children every day. One helpful tool we use is called an Essential Agreement. Let’s take a closer look at what this means and why it’s important. An Essential Agreement is a set of simple rules and expectations that everyone in the classroom agrees to follow. It encourages children to understand our expected behaviours and interact positively with one another and their teachers. Rather than concentrating on what we can’t do in the classroom, we prefer to discuss all the things we can do. Using positive, “we can" language creates a more uplifting atmosphere and encourages a constructive mindset. This document is not set in stone; it will evolve over time. We will revisit it regularly to reassess, add new points, and reflect on our agreements. This ongoing process ensures that our Essential Agreement remains relevant and effective for everyone in the classroom. For example, rather than saying, “Don’t interrupt,” we might say, “We ...
